One of my favorite verses from the Bible is Jeremiah 29:11, I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and hope. I love that; a plan of hope and future! God has a will for my life and for yours! But how do you know when you are in the will of God? Let me give you a few Biblical principles when it comes to knowing the will of God.
1. First there is the Surrender Principle. That's when you surrender your will to God's will. Let me put it like this, what right does a person expect to know the will of God and hasn't surrendered to God?
2. Next, the Word Principle. That's when you begin to saturate your life in God's Word. God's word is a lamp unto your feet and a light to your path!
3. The Wisdom Principle. As you surrender and you get into God's Word, you will find in James 1:5 God gives us wisdom. He blesses us with the Holy Spirit and His job is to impress upon our hearts and remind us what is right and wrong. By the way, everything God says will never disagree with Scripture.
4. Last is the Walk Principle. That's where you get busy and begin to serve God! Proverbs 3:5,6 if you acknowledge God, He shall direct your paths. God doesn't direct if you stand still. The will of God isn't a blueprint that God lays out and you study. It's a scroll that is unrolled when you follow these principles. It's a relationship and God shows you one step at a time. And you don’t find the will of God, it finds you!
So what does that look like? The nearest thing that should be done that He can do through you. That’s the answer! The will of God is not something you do for the rest of your life… it's what God does through you.
What does that mean? If the will of God for you is to just smile... Smile! The nearest thing that should be done that God can do through you.
So, Go for it! Get part of the will of God by being a blessing to someone today!
